Growing up I was always attracted to photography, and kept up the hobby as I explored other creative avenues professionally. Eventually I began focusing more on my photos, and enrolled in night classes where I began my formal training in both the artistic and technical aspects of making images. I began with film, chemicals, and darkrooms, and have since moved on to shooting mostly digital. Yet, from time to time I still grab one of my vintage cameras, and leave my fancy digital shooters behind.

Today I work as an architect and a photographer. I have a passion for both fields, and often draw inspiration from one while working in the other. Photographically, my work falls mainly into two categories: people and places.

When photographing people, I take a fun, easy-going approach. I am always striving to make my subjects feel comfortable and at ease, so I can capture spontaneous moments of honest feeling and expression. Whether it’s the glance between a couple that reveals their connection, or the look in a bride’s eyes that conveys all the emotions of her wedding day. When shooting places, my approach is more thoughtful and deliberate. I take my time in composing each image, drawing from my architectural background to interpret a building’s design and attempt to represent the true nature of the space as it exists.

After making thousands of images, I love that photography is still as powerful and magical for me as ever. The chance to freeze time and capture a moment is truly a special treat, and I am always looking forward to my next opportunity to make some beautiful images.
